Hurricane Helene
October 5th 2025 update.
I’m sure you’ve been watching, if not local, or living through the catastrophe, if you are, and understand the devastation we are dealing with in Asheville and greater Western NC. Our hearts are truly broken for our area.
Local businesses, our sponsors and vendors but also our friends and neighbors, have been flooded or even washed away completely.
The River Arts District, homebase for this event, was completely flooded by Hurricane Helene. Hi-Wire Brewing’s beautiful beer garden washed away almost entirely. Even though flood waters have receded and the greenways and roads are visible, the mud that now covers the majority of the course is covered in toxic mud and cleanup will be painstaking.
The hard work has begun though. Our non-profit partners are busy doing what they do best, reaching out to the community. Police and EMS are still in recovery as hundreds of people are still missing.
All City of Asheville event permits for October and November until Thanksgiving have been canceled.
Here’s the plan:
All runners will become virtual. When we are able to, we will send out your shirts, medals etc. free of any shipping charges. If you ordered extra swag that will be sent as well. (we don’t know when we will be able to return home so hang tight). Please make sure your mailing address is correct. If you’ve moved or need things sent someplace else, fill out the Virtual Runner form here.
A portion of your race entry will be donated to relief efforts in the region.
